Help I have a swarm of bees on my property!
Don’t panic. I remove hanging swarms for free.
Please call my mobile phone or use the Contact page and I will make arrangements to come remove the bees. My contact info is on the right side of this page. When you call please have this information ready:
- Location of the bees – Street Address
- General description of where the bees are (eg: 15ft up the front Maple tree)
- If you can take a picture (as close as you dare to get), please text the picture to me
- How long have the bees been there?
- Your name and phone number
Notes about Swarms
- Swarms are not dangerous. Swarming bees are not interested in stinging you.
- Do NOT Spray the Bees with Insecticide!
- Leave the bees alone
- The best thing to do with a swarm is to call a beekeeper (not the fire department or pest control)
- Please positively identify that the insects are indeed honey bees (See this page for identification help)
- Bees that have moved into a structure and set up a hive are no longer a swarm and require removal from the structure. I currently can not remove bees from structures. Please contact the MN Hobby Beekeepers Association for a list of folks that perform bee removal from structures.
More information about Swarms
Honey bee swarms are natural. Swarming is the normal means by which a honey colony reproduces itself. In Minnesota, the honey swarming impulse starts in May and a swarm can issue anytime up until around September.
